Aman Alhamid was born in Singapore on 13 Dec 1983 and from an early
age he had aspired to be an entertainer. He tried singing, but was
never really any good. He tried acting, but it didn't really turn out,
even though he had been in drama class for a while. Yet, he knew that
he was creative and artistic, he just did not know what his outlet was.
He found that he was good at magic, by accident, whilst performing a
'stupid trick' for an old friend, who, after seeing the trick, jumped
back and told him that he was 'really good' and that he might want to
pursue the art of magic.
Aman studied at the Jerudong International School, which turned out to
be the perfect platform for his talents. Influenced by none other than
the great David Copperfield, Aman rapidly became somewhat of a
celebrity within school grounds. He brought his deck of cards
everywhere he went, much to the dismay of his teachers, although there
were some who had actually explored his talents and gave him slots of
time to perform for the class during breaks. His ad hoc performances in
JIS culminated in a 2002 talent competition that he entered and won
hands down. At his graduation in 2003, Aman gave his last performance
in JIS - one that was talked about for many weeks after that!
After graduation Aman, being a Singaporean, had to serve National
Service. Raised in Brunei and a stranger in his own homeland, Aman was
initially not well accepted by his fellow National Servicemen until, of
course, he started dazzling them with his magic! He went from squad to
squad performing to tired NS men who were starved of entertainment. By
the time he had completed his training he became, once again, a
celebrity, performing at the farewell dinner in front of officers and
training staff and receiving a standing ovation. He was also invited to
perform in KL at the Annual Police Dinner and Dance.
Today Aman is back in Brunei, the country he considers home, pursuing a
degree in Bachelor of Science Education at Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
